Day 3 - Anchors aweigh!

Fueling at CostaBaja marina
The morning of departure is finally here so with a final checklist and trip to the dock for a last shower, we weighed anchor at 13:00. Part way through the La Paz channel a navy panga boat sped up along side and one of the navy men deftly boarded our vessel without either of us slowing down – very impressive move! They routinely check inbound and outbound vessels for documentation and within a few minutes the guy hopped the span between boats and we were on our way, officially.

CostaBaja is a “gringo-fied” resort at the end of the channel away from the main town of La Paz, thankfully. Here we fueled and made it to Playa Pichilinque in the late afternoon for our first anchorage. I had a nice ride on the bowsprit too!

Tomorrow we sail across the channel between mainland Baja crossing over to Isla del Espiritu Santo (Island of the Holy Spirit).
